An international cruise, with a theme focused on entertainment and cricket is set to rope in celebrities from several different fields. During the trip, passengers will have the opportunity to share space with their idols and interact with them as well.

Operated by Monarch Cruise, the ship is set to sail from Singapore on March 6, 2017. It will course through Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Penang, Colombo and Kochi before arriving at Mumbai’s port and embarking on a route back to Singapore.

Besides Sachin Tendulkar and Brett Lee, the cruise has an impressive line-up of celebrities including Shane Warne, Kumar Sangakkara, rapper Badshah, DJ Kushi, stand-up comedian Vir Das, actress Neha Dhupia, singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and chef Sanjeev Kapoor, among others.

The tour is an attempt at initiating international cruise tourism in India. Although the central government has identified Mumbai, Goa (Mormugao) and Kochi as the ports of call for international cruise lines, the industry is still in its nascent stages in the country.

Highlighting the experience, Tendulkar said, “This is such a unique concept and I am delighted to be a part of it. I’m looking forward to joining many of my international cricketing friends as we bring a slice of cricket history to the fans in a way never seen before.”

Brett Lee added, “The Monarch Indian Cricket and Bollywood Cruise promises to be the ultimate tour for Indian cricket and movie buffs. I am looking forward to being a part of it as we cruise on the journey of a life time. ”

According to Somesh Jagga, CEO, Monarch Cruise, “When we looked at this part of the world, we tried to identify which are the two biggest interests that Indians have and cricketer Shane Lee had this idea of doing cricket and Bollywood. Going forward, we want to bring more theme-based cruises to India. So, this is just the beginning. Cricket and Bollywood cruise was designed just to give the Indian market a luxury experience they have not seen before.”

The luxury cruise has a line-up of six itineraries that include four 7-day legs (Singapore to Colombo, Colombo to Singapore, Colombo to Mumbai, Mumbai to Colombo) and two 13-day legs (Singapore to Mumbai, Mumbai to Singapore).
